Commuting? What is this sorcery?

It may not have been clear from earlier posts, but I haven’t needed to drive to work since 2012. A combination of Boston public transit and my trusty Bianchi Volpe have been my primary source of transportation for almost five years at this point. Well, recently I accepted a job outside the city that would require a commute of about 15 miles each way, a bit further than I’d be able to bike regularly. Add to that our current attempts to save up for a house, and the fun but thirsty BMW sadly had to go. Allow me to introduce my new commuting buddy:

I test drove several cars, but the Fit felt the most...joyful. With a stick this car is loads of fun, even though it’s in no way fast. A few minor mods are going to come together a bit later, including a rear sway bar, new stereo, and some little doodads.

Congrats. Every person I know with a Fit loves them.

Great choice. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Fits. Tried to make my grandma buy one but she got a Civic instead.

Congrats, there’s nothing but praise for these! Now put a Jazz badge on it.

Nice, hell of a value. I LOVE those magic seats. Test drove one, the visibility was great and while I found it a little loud, it was a solidly fun car (albeit even with the automatic; I should drive one with the manual).

The magic seats are amazing. As for volume, this car is still quieter than my Subaru was...and as long as I don’t try to put an exhaust on it, it should stay that way.

I have a 2009 Sport (5sp Auto- paddle shifts!) Bad knees keep me from driving a stick anymore.. :( 120K on it and no problems at all. It has been a good car.

Change the oil on time and adjust the valves every 100k or so and that little thing will never let you down.

Never thought of that but it seems like a good idea!
